For those of you who own CardMaker magazine's March 2011 issue, this card may look slightly familiar. On page 49, Cindy Coutts did a St. Patrick's Day card that I fell in love with. I followed her recipe, but changed my color scheme and main focal point to convert this to a Valentine.
Don't you just love it?!
It's so easy to make, too. The card base is 4 3/8" square, the Purely Pomegranate layer is 4 1/4" square, then you punch out 8 scalloped squares (Stampin' Up! punch). I happened to have the same Night and Day Designer Series Paper that Cindy used (SU), and it just looks so dramatic. I can envision other styles of paper, though! The sky's the limit.
I am entering this in three challenges: Mark's Finest Papers - Valentine cards; Flourishes' FTTC103 - Valentine cards; City Crafter - All You Need is LOVE.
Hope this inspires you to create an easy Valentine that CAN fit into a standard A2 envelope! (always one of my priorities)
Happy Stamping,
Colleen

Love what you've created here, Colleen. Great BG with the squares and I love the script behind the heart. I'm with you on the A2 sizing all the way :)
It's a great card!
This is SO beautiful, Colleen! Wow, I really love this a lot. I didn't see the original card, but I can tell that it translated into your Valentine beautifully! And those DP squares you used are fantastic. Your pops of pomegranate are perfect. Fantastic work! :)

Love this! I like the square tiled look. Red. Black. White. Can you ever go wrong with that? (I made a card using punched square too this week)
