Quick Sets of Thank You Cards

Hello friends!  I'm sharing some quick, one layer thank you card sets I made recently.  My daughter turned 16 (!!) and needed these.   Man, does THAT make me feel old! ;)

In keeping with my self-challenge to use things I have, and try not to buy anything new, I pulled out an Inkadinkado set called Chandeliers for the cards above.  The sentiment is from Flourishes' Thank You set.

On the cards below, I used Practicing Creativity's Nature's Wonder, and used a stamping-off technique. Only Old Olive and Regal Rose were used, but by continuing to stamp again and again with the same dab of ink, it looks like I've got more shades of the same hue.

Another way I've used my self-challenge:  these 3.5" x 5" card bases have been languishing in my drawer from heaven-knows-where, for who knows how long.  Finally, they've been put to use! And, best of all, they are mailable at this minimum size accepted by the US Postal Service.

I know these aren't anything all that special, but sometimes you just need flat cards to help save on postage. Thanks for taking a peek!

Blue Butterfly Sympathy

Hello friends!  I'm back with another card that was passed up for publication a while back.  Actually, I suppose it was meant to be, because I wound up sending this to a good friend of ours who just lost his father.

This beautiful blue butterfly is from the Lost Coast Designs set, Butterflies.

I used a Labels Eighteen die to cut an opening in the stamped-script panel (Hero Arts Manuscript Background). On the opposite side of the die cut, I stamped the sentiment and set it aside.  After popping up the script panel, I laid the sentiment piece inside and secured to the card base.

I'm so glad you dropped by today!

Play Date Cafe 94 - Butterfly Thanks

Fall is coming our way, whether it feels like it or not outdoors.  Here in New Jersey, it's been one long hot summer, with many days above 90 degrees, sometimes near 100.  I know my friends in the South will say, "Ha!  Is that all??" because they deal with hotter temps than that for more months than we do.  I LOVE the four seasons, but most especially autumn.

The color story for The Play Date Cafe this week definitely reminds me of autumn days:

Our sponsor this week is Practicing Creativity, and they graciously sent each of us a new stamp set.

My set is called Nature's Wonder:

Here's my card --

The twine was sooooo not part of the design, but when I adhered my colored cardstock panels together and embossed them (Damask by Sizzix), there were unsightly gaps.  I wound twine around those parts, to cover up the mistakes.

Love my new border punch, Scallop Dot by Martha Stewart.  :)

Visit The Play Date Cafe blog, to see what the yummy prize is this week.  And with our new design team in place, you've got lots of samples to check out!

Thanks so much for joining me today.  :)
