Our lovely Sarah Anderson has chosen cool colors for this week's Play Date Cafe challenge:
I decided to play up the green with a satin ribbon I've had for years and years. It was from my grandmother's sewing supplies. She used to make her own clothes, and she helped me learn to sew in my late teens. I bought an old cotton striped sheet (white and a couple shades of blue) from a thrift store [and of course it was in great condition; no shabby sheets for me!] and asked Mom-mom to help me sew some shorts. They were simple, with an elastic waistband and two side pockets. We trimmed them with some white eyelet that she had in her stash. That experience opened my eyes to the fun world of sewing, and I'm so glad she was the person to teach me. I'll have to show you my quilts sometime!
For now, here's my card:
I kept it pretty simple, using (how apropos) Simply Sweet by Stampin' Up! for my image. The one vase that I singled out has a deep blue flower, green leaf and lighter blue "water". I used Crystal Effects from SU to achieve the shiny, dimensional look. Isn't it cool?
The sentiment is from Magical Moments by Wplus9.
Time to check out my teammates' fabulous creations this week:

Clean and classy, Colleen! And what a fabulous ribbon!
Wonderful CAS card! Love the ribbon and CE on the one vase :) (((hugs)))
Gorgeous CAS card, Colleen...love the Crystal Effects effect! That green bow is just elegant, too! I was hoping to see a picture of your shorts too, after that description I was so intrigued! Lucky girl that you had someone to help you sew...that is a true gift! Have a wonderful day my dear, sending you loads of hugs!
I am a huge CAS because it can pack such a punch - in such a subtle way way! Just love this and its one colored vase!
Colleen, this is a STUNNING CAS card! What a wonderful story about your intro to sewing, too. (I've used many a sheet for sewing projects--shorts included!) That bit of satin ribbon is the perfect accent for this sweet card. Love the glossy water, too. :)
Fabulous piece, love how you have highlighted the one vase with the colour story. The ribbon is a gorgeous finishing touch. Loved your story re your introduction to sewing too, the ribbon making this even more a card to treasure. Thanks for inviting me along. Tracy x
Oh fabulous use of the colors! The one vase colored looks perfect~ well done!
Absolutely love how you've colored only one of your vases! It makes it that much more special. And the Crystal Effects, your scrumptious ribbon, and that FANTASTIC sentiment ;) bring it all home! And thanks so much for sharing that sweet story about your grandmother!
Well isn't that just darling!!! I love how you concentrated your efforts on only one vase to really make it stand out. That is so clever and an exquisite design feature on this card. Truely amazing.
Bear Hugs,
