Play Date Cafe 90 - Paris

Hello everyone!  Aren't these sunset colors just amazing?  Jax has eggplant, fuschia and orangesicle as our color story this week, and I just love it.

Our sponsor is Our Craft Lounge, and they graciously sent each design team member a different stamp set.  I received Vintage Traveler.  I tried to show a pic of it here, but I couldn't get it to work.  Well, anyway, it's a set that I fell in love with the moment I set eyes upon it.

I worked on this project at my friend Andrea Ewen's house.  She has the most awesome craft room!
The challenge colors made a perfect evening sky behind the Eiffel Tower.

Though it's hard to tell in the shots above, there is a bit of black behind the border punching.  You can see it better here:

Look who poked her nose in my picture!  It's Cristabel, our kitty that we adopted in January of this year.

She's hard to photograph, being all black with just bits of white around the nose.
I had meant to introduce you all to her before, but the family crisis events this year took priority.  We adopted Cristabel from Pet Smart.  She had sat in their cages for at least a year, and no one wanted her because she is "old" (she just turned 2 years old) and black - apparently there are lots of folks who are superstitious about black cats.  Poor little girl!

She took to us right away, and is a darling.  I think she loves me best, but also adores Haley.  And even though my husband feeds her every morning, she'll only give him the time of day when it's breakfast time!
She loves to play with the throw rug by our front door, dashing under it and messing it all up.  She loves the wrinkled look.  ;)

Okay, back to The Play Date Cafe challenge.  :)  We'd absolutely love to see your creations, so head over HERE and read the details for playing.  Our guest designer this week is Kendra Wietstock.  Her cards are adorable, and she is so sweet!

I don't know how you did it, but you managed to make a beautifully clean yet wonderfully shabby card, Colleen. It's STUNNING!! That Vintage Traveler set is just your style, and you worked wonders with it. The sky background is gorgeous, perfectly using those to-die-for colors this week. FANTASTIC!!

Love how you added the subtle colour around the tower and great punched border.

Cristabel is adorable. She is one black cat and I can't believe she was at Pet Smart for a a year! Glad she had a great home to live in now :) Give her a snuggle from me!

Both are gorgeous; the card and your cat. What I love about your card is the fact that you created a background for the Eiffel tower that made me think of the sunset; gorgeous view in city that's called "the city of love and romance" :)
And the punched border is adding a wonderful touch of elegance...

And your cat? a cutie and a beauty :)

Enjoy your day!

And, I'm so glad you got a new cat and I'm sure she loves being rescued from those cages.

Wow, Colleen this card is amazing. I feel like I have been to Paris and back!!! lol Just beautiful. How precious your baby is too. Poor thing being in a cage for 1 year-holy smokes. I bet her coat is beautiful and shiny being all black. She is so lucky to finally be in a good home.

Someone beat me to the Ooo la la bit! C'est bon! Whatever, it is this is a stunny card! Love the hint of black too. The melding of colors is just so pretty! Just really love it! All my recollections of the Eifel Tower seemed to be rain or smog in the background when I visited Paris. Oh well, this is how I could dream it was! Thanks for the memories kiddo!

Chris R. from Iowa

P.S. cute kitty too though I am a dog person. How could someone not love that little face?

What a gorgeous card with the Eiffel tower! The stunning sky in the background with the different colors is so lovely! Thanks for sharing the sweet photo of your cat. We use to have a black cat named, Blackie. We nearly adopted another cat last February, but our German Shepherd didn't like the idea.:-) So, my friend, Linda, adopted her instead. It all worked out well.:-) Take care and have a great weekend, hugs!

Poor baby, in a cage for a year! My heart breaks for her, but that's all behind her now. I'm so glad she found such a good home and nothing but good times from now on!

As for your card -- I saw the colors before I saw your card and I wondered how you would handle those since they look pretty bright. I guess they're more rich than bright, though. You certainly turned them soft and lovely on your card! I love the sponging and the mood it sets for your image. Great job!
