'God is our Refuge...'

I received my very first Verve stamps just the other day!  I'm excited to have them.  Verve was having a sale, and I thought it was the perfect time for me to try them.  I've seen my friends Andrea and Marisa enjoying theirs so much, I just had to try.

Here's a creation using one of the new stamps, Psalm 46:1:
You know how much I loooove hydrangeas, judging by my blog header.  I fell in love with these K & Co. 3D stickers, and picked up a couple of packs during the summer (on sale, of course).  I added some small pearls to them...

...because I can't get enough of pearls!

A detail of the sentiment panel --

I used a Spellbinders Parisian Motifs die to create a topper for the Petite Oval, and let about half of it show.

I'm entering this at Flourishes, where the challenge is all about your sentiment.

While I was typing this post today, we had an earthquake here on the East Coast.  Talk about shocking (no pun intended there)!  Just one of my daughters and I were home at the time, and I thought she might've been jumping around upstairs (it's a smaller old house and things like that can be felt throughout).  My china cabinet doors were opening and closing, and I thought, "Geez, she'd better take it easy up there!"  My next thought was that a huge truck had rumbled by our house, because plenty of them had done that last year while our street was all torn up.   Those trucks would shake our entire house.

But this shaking and rumbling went on far too long, and then I realized something scary was happening.  I've never been in an earthquake before, and should've run outside but instead I called for my daughter to come down and hug me.  I felt afraid, and she did too.  She had been upstairs drawing on her antique desk, which shimmies when she uses it.  So at first, she didn't think anything of it either.  Then she noticed the items on her dresser were shaking about.  When I called for her, she thought, "Oh, God, something is REALLY wrong!"

The news reporters said it was a 5.8, a 5.9 or a 6.2 on the Richter scale, and it lasted about 30 seconds.  It was very freaky and very surreal!  Glad everyone is okay.  My brother and sister-in-law are up here in NJ visiting, and he said he was on the beach in a chair when he felt this.  I called my in-laws in North Carolina, and they sure felt it too.  My mother-in-law and I BOTH had goosebumps as we were talking about it.

I find it very interesting indeed what the sentiment on this card says, and what I've just experienced.

Edited to add:  my card, Inspired by Rosy Gloves, took Top 3 at The Shabby Tea Room!  I forgot to mention due to the excitement of today.  :)

Oh, WOW Col! You've certainly done that Verve stamp justice! Your card is absolutely beautiful! I love hydrangeas too and the pearl accents are just perfectly elegant!
We were in the house to when the whole house started to sway...what a scary feeling! All I could hear was a wind chime I had in the kitchen tinkling. That was my first earthquake...what an unsettling (no pun intended) feeling! Glad you're all ok!

Yeah!!! You got some Verve!!! Doing a happy dance :) You have used this amazing verse fabulously on your card. Love the hydrangeas with the pearls in them and well done on the oval topper! Great idea!

Hubby told me about the earthquake and I immediately though of all my East Coast blogging buddies!! Soooo glad to hear you are okay (((hugs)))

I grew up with them as a regular part of live in Costa Rica as there are some active volcanoes in the country. Believe it or not, my brother and I would leap on to our beds because we could feel them better when we were laying down. It's quite the feeling being through one and I just glad it was a small one.

Beautiful card, Colleen, but the sentiment says it all. My sister happened to be here for a few minutes when the earthquake happened and I am embarrassed to say that we did not pray afterwards, probably because I think we both were in total shock at what we just experienced! But He IS in control!!!

What a wonderful stamp and you have showcased it beautifully with your hydrangeas! We felt the earthquake here. I was upstairs and when I realized what it was, I flew down the stairs to make sure all was well with Hubby & Luke! By then it was all over. I'm thankful it wasn't any worse than it was! Now to get through the hurricane!

It was very close to us and really scary! It took me a bit to get my wits about me to know what was going on since that was not something normal for the area!

Beautiful card and very very beautiful verse!!!

This is beautiful Colleen! Love the backround paper and the Nesties too! Hydrangeas are a fav of mine too and these are gorgeous! The verse is a favorite too and very appropriate! We felt it here in NC too, but thought it was the army practicing again as the whole house shook. But this did feel different. Glad you all are safe.

Awesome! Colleen, you really made a beauty with those hydrangeas...I really LOVE it.
I've been in a couple of earthquakes. One of mine was in the wee hours and woke up to everything in the bedroom shaking. Talk about weird! I'm glad everyone is o.k. and that it was no worse.

Another beauty with your papers and colors and those amazing hydrangea stickers. They're sooooooo pretty! I've never felt an earthquake that big. Just a couple of little ones. Have you had enough of this nature stuff over there yet? Sheesh! I really hope all is well with you!

STUNNING!! Oh, Colleen, you certainly have a way with hydrangeas. You used your new Verve stamps perfectly here, too. You know, I *thought* I heard someone say something about an earthquake while we were out on the road, but we were so out of touch. I never heard details--or really a location, either. It never occurred to me that it might have affected you!!! Thank goodness everything is OK there. It sounded scary!
