Play Date Cafe 94 - Butterfly Thanks

Fall is coming our way, whether it feels like it or not outdoors.  Here in New Jersey, it's been one long hot summer, with many days above 90 degrees, sometimes near 100.  I know my friends in the South will say, "Ha!  Is that all??" because they deal with hotter temps than that for more months than we do.  I LOVE the four seasons, but most especially autumn.

The color story for The Play Date Cafe this week definitely reminds me of autumn days:

Our sponsor this week is Practicing Creativity, and they graciously sent each of us a new stamp set.

My set is called Nature's Wonder:

Here's my card --

The twine was sooooo not part of the design, but when I adhered my colored cardstock panels together and embossed them (Damask by Sizzix), there were unsightly gaps.  I wound twine around those parts, to cover up the mistakes.

Love my new border punch, Scallop Dot by Martha Stewart.  :)

Visit The Play Date Cafe blog, to see what the yummy prize is this week.  And with our new design team in place, you've got lots of samples to check out!

Thanks so much for joining me today.  :)

Colleen

Love your gorgeous card Colleen! And I agree, autumn is my favorite season too. We didn't really have much of one in Texas, I'm anxious to see what its like in Georgia... nothing like the north though I'm sure!

Ahh, sometimes I find that creativity is, most importantly, being able to cover up mishaps! Beautiful card, Colleen, you've worked these colors fabulously, seemingly effortlessly. Great work.

This is great Colleen! Love the texture and blocks of color! The twine is perfect! I would never have known it was to cover up an issue. That is the wonderful thing about embellies!

Hi Colleen, LOVE the texture of the embossed cardstock with the twine. I enjoy the contrast of the clean white background and the darker color combination on top.

Ha, is that all??? Just had to say it. It has surely been a steamy, humid bath here in Alabama this summer. But, summer is still my favorite season.

Your card is so pretty and textured. I don't have that punch..I may be failing as a Punchkateer, huh? :-)
Good idea with the twine and great colors.

Colleen,
It looks wonderful and refreshing to see this type of background. I hear ya on the cover up, that's just what we have to do sometimes and look how great it turned out and adds some texture to the card too. Love it and this set, i've been digging in my stash looking for a couple of silhouette stamps.

I love any color blocking design, and the colors for this look fabulous together! The twine looks like it belongs there, so that was just an unexpected enhancement that turned out to be a winner! Love the fonts on the sentiment too!

Pretty set and a lovely card, Colleen! I like your multicolored panels with the twine. Kind of an earthy, yet feminine look. I love fall here, too, but mostly because it's so still and quiet at that time. The outdoors are just wonderful then!
