Black Tie and Diamonds

This is my second post of the day.  You can see the Viva La Verve post HERE.

Got your attention with that post title, huh?  The card I made last night reminds me of just that.

I created a toile-like pattern using a stamp from Lost Coast Designs, available at Blockheads Paper Arts:

Love it!  It has the same feel as the older Anna Griffin stamps I fell in love with, and aren't available any more.

Here's my velvet "bow-tie", topped with a button from my stash (thanks, Aunt Kay!).  There's lots of sticky Scor-Tape holding this baby together, plus a few stitches.  I glued the whole thing down with Aleene's Tacky Glue when it was assembled. (And here's what a lazy crafter I am:  I only had white thread / needle on hand to stitch this together, otherwise I'd have to go down to the cellar for black thread.  So I brought out a black Sharpie marker and colored my white thread.  ;)

The "diamonds" didn't photograph too well, but here they are!

Does anyone have any suggestions on a good camera to buy?  I am currently using a point-and-shoot Nikon Coolpix S4000, and find it falls short in doing close-up pix.  I've done a little research, and have started asking around.  I'm kind of interested in this Canon, but it's at least $600 so I need to save for a while:

Canon EOS Rebel T2i 18 MP CMOS APS-C Digital SLR Camera

with 3.0-Inch LCD and EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens

Anybody have any experience with this camera?

Colleen

Stamps:  Lily Flourish - Lost Coast Designs
Paper:  white - PTI; Basic Black - SU
Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black - Tsukineko
Punch:  Lattic Edge - Martha Stewart
Other:  white satin ribbon - Nicole; black velvet ribbon - Michael's; bling - Queen & Co.; button; thread/needle

I just love your card. So beautiful..
I have the Canon T1i. And I love it. I do believe you would be so happy with this camera.. My girlfriend has the Nikon and she loves that one!
But I think the canon is a little cheaper.. I hope that helps a little. I know it was so hard for me to decide..

Hugs, Linda

Well dear you are not lazy; I would rather call it clever :)
And your card is brilliant; and yes...diamonds are a girls' best friend. If not on your hand; than on a card. So lovely to receive!

It's such an elegant card, Colleen!!

I see your question on Canon T2i. T3i a newer version of T2i with few additional enhancements. Here's the review http://reviews.cnet.com/digital-cameras/canon-eos-rebel-t3i/4864-6501_7-34493918-2.html.

Let me know how that works for ya once you purchase it :)

How beautiful! Love the elegance of this Colleen! I am always impressed how beautiful your stamping comes out! Mine always looks like it has been stamped. This is gorgeous, looks like paper you bought! The bow is a perfect touch too! I am in the hunt of a good camera too. Definitely have to save for it, but I keep hearing good things about Cannon. I have friends that have Nikon and say that the mechanics of a Nikon are great, but Cannon is better for their lenses. Don't know, let me know what you decide on!

Gorgeous, elegant card! I have some Anna Griffin stamps similar to this and I'm thinking I may have to pull them out. Inspiration is very plentiful here! I have a Canon Rebel SLR which I use for my card photos. It used to take better pictures, but something is wrong and I haven't been able to figure it out and haven't taken it anywhere to be fixed. Don't know how much that might cost. I used to take all my close up garden photos with it. I don't think you can go wrong with the Canon. These days I'm all about the portability of a pocket sized camera.

I have had several Canons. For me the only way to go. I have had my first SLR T1i (a Costco bargain as the new ones were coming out)for several months. I love it. It does more than I even understand how to do. My husband has a Canon point & shoot. I use it for a personal record of my cards.
