Wreath Gratitude

Hello, friends!  I've had some busy crafty days recently (including a craft date with my friend, Andrea on the weekend), but the card I'm showing off right now is a Paper Crafts Magazine reject from a while back (poo).

It was a sketch challenge, thus the unusual look:

The wreath is from Verve's Glad Tidings, a Christmas set.  I made my wreaths look summery with 'blueberries'.  The sentiment is from their Thank You set.

You know the time-suck called Pinterest, right?  I've spent a lot of time there in the last several days, re-pinning many gorgeous cards by people like Debby Hughes, Iwona Palamountain, Andrea Ewen, and so many more.  There is a TON of inspiration there!  (You can check out all of my Boards HERE, if you like.)

I'd been thinking about a conversation I saw on Facebook recently (possibly Emily Branch's?  couldn't find it again, though).  The question posed:  Should one post her own creations to Pinterest, or leave it to others to pin what they find interesting?  Many people responded with their opinions, and there were folks on both sides of that fence.  Me?  I like to keep a Board of my own creations, and so pin everything I make.  Why?  For one, it is a gallery where, with one glance, I can see what I have made without having to scroll through post after post (I used to keep my gallery at Splitcoast up to date, but I've just run out of time).  Another reason:  I hope to inspire people who do spend a lot of their time at Pinterest.  It's really like one-stop shopping.  You can find cards to interest you, plus recipes for tonight's dinner, crafts for the kids, books to read, and so on.    If I load my cards there, I'm sure to hit a wider market that may never even visit my blog.

Just curious:  what is your opinion on pinning your own creations?  I'd love to read your answers!

I remember in the beginning, they wouldn't let us pin our own stuff and now they encourage it ... I tried it for awhile -- but lost steam after after a bit ... since I all ready take time to blog it...lol! :) I loveeeeeeeeee your card! LOVING those wreaths!!!

Colleen like all your projects this card of your is just as beautiful and elegant ...i love the way you have colored the wreath in such unusual color combo ...it looks so lovely!
And regarding the pinterest i have been sitting on the fence about that opinion... I felt that to pin my own card is not a done thing ...but the way you have put it ...it makes perfect sense ...i mean pinterest is all about sharing so why not something which you have worked so hard about and are proud about too...hmmm will have to do something about this :)

Pin away Colleen, I love looking at peoples own pinterest albums, it also makes it easy to set up folders of cards I want to CASE (I used to save each individual photo to a folder on my computer, using valuable computer memory, now I just pin away!)

It's a beautiful card, Colleen....CAS and perfect! The addition of the lace adds such elegance!
I enjoyed our time together, though I usually don't get much done in the way of cards...but I don't mind that at all! :)
I pin my cards...I do think it's a great way to see one's collection all in one spot. And why shouldn't you...you worked so hard on these projects...they are to be shared with the world! :)

I'm with you Colleen I pin all my cards. It's a perfect venue for a gallery. My blog has only 83 followers but my pinterest has 150 followers.

Beautiful card, Colleen!

I also have a folder on Pinterest of just my cards I've created. Alot of my co-workers/friends go directly to Pinterest and see what I've created. It's also a place to go back and see a card I want to re-create. I wish I had more time on Pinterest to pin beautiful creations, but I barely have time to post my own stuff before the deadline!

Pretty card with the summer blueberry wreaths, Colleen.

Pinterest? Who has time? Wish I could get my act together and do more over there. I think it is great to post all your cards there for inspiring crafters.

Bet you've had fun with Andrea.

First of all, I love the freshness of this card. Clever use of the wreath, and the white trim is a pretty accent. As for Pinterest, I can't imagine why you shouldn't pin your own creations. After all, it's about sharing inspiration. I also like the idea of keeping a gallery there for a quick reference. I CASE myself a lot so it would be handy. I was pinning my own things for a while but got lax on that. By the way, I'm loving the cards you've been busily pinning!

This is so pretty Colleen~crisp and white!
I have very few pins...but it IS an interesting question. I know companies pin projects with their own products/designers, so it makes sense that a designer would do the same. Don't know if that helps or not. ;)

First of all your card; It deserves to be published. They don;t know what they are missing:)

Pinterest...soooo addictive...I do keep a board with my own cards/projects. Just for me and maybe a little help for others to get inspired. I spend quite some time to repin all the beauty I see there. On the other hand; I do not have enough time to make everything I want. But it is so much fun to be there and look at all the beauty displayed there. Pinning is a fab way of entertainment:)
