Baby Shower Flowers

Hi!  I have had a thing lately for raining hydrangea blossoms down upon an umbrella.  I love how cute it looks, and this one is perfect for a baby shower.

Had to add my signature pearls, of course, both Liquid and hard gem versions.

I wish I had received a card like this for my baby shower 16 years ago.  I'd have had it framed, and hung it in the baby's room.  A tiny Haley and I would have looked at it every day, talking about flowers and pearls, counting the blossoms, and discussing what an umbrella is good for.

When she was a wee one, sitting in her high chair as I busily washed bottles and dishes (we had no dishwasher at the time), I'd talk non-stop to her.  I figured it would be more interesting to her as she sat captive, and she'd learn a lot in the process.  As I washed and put away spoons, forks, dishes, etc., I'd say, "Spoon.  This is a spoon, and we eat with it.  Haley eats with a spoon."  I felt sort of ridiculous saying these things, but, hey, this is how we learn, right?

I like thinking back on those days.  I recall being tired often, but things seemed much simpler then.  It was nice.  Now, I've got a teenager and one almost-teenager.  Life is...different.  Tempers flare more often.  Moods fluctuate from hour to hour.  Small annoyances become magnified.  I'm still trying to learn to parent children in this age range.  I think I aced the younger years, but the jury's out on my ability to parent through this phase!

Just the sweetest baby card. I love the pearls hanging off the umbrella and those sweet hydrangeas falling about.

Someone once told me I talked to my baby more than anyone they had ever seen. They do learn that way.

Oh, the teen years are different than those younger years but you'll get through (somehow -:-)) and you'll all be best friends when they're through all the teen years. Hang on!!!!!!!

This card is GORGEOUS, Colleen!! I would frame it indeed! Each stage of kids growing up has its pros and cons. Hang in there!

This is adorable - and perfect for a shower before knowing the gender!
I can totally relate to the parenting woes you're going through now. There is really nothing like a teenager in the house to make you doubt your sanity/intelligence/existence. Then again, years into toddlerhood I realized something - the best moms? They're the ones worrying if they're doing a good job, agonizing over how they raise their kids, looking for advice but trusting their instincts. Sending hugs!

This is the most adorable baby shower card! I talked incessantly to my babies too! And sang to them. The teen years were a real challenge. I believe it was Ann Landers that said we should move everyone out of the state of Utah and put all the teenagers there until they grew out of it! Something like that. At the time I totally agreed then mourned when they went off to college. The hard times are what forge the closest of relationships.

Your card is sweet and adorable and I love it! Hang in there, Colleen. They'll come back around. The smoldering teen years can be hard to get through, but the early nurturing will win out soon.

Awe...this is so so sweet. I love the story you shared. There were no baby showers here in the Netherlands when I was epxpecting our sons. (coming up the last years) But I love the idea of framing a card from that shower and look at it every-single-day with Haley.
I can relate to your story of parenting. It's differnet when they are growing up; I was a SAHM when they were young. I cherish the memories. Life was so easy being at home. Spending lots of time with my two boys and a schedule that was easy to handle. Yes little boys were keeping me on my toes:) but I loved it.
Now they live on their own. When they were young I cherished the quiet hours. Now I cherish the hours when they are here:)
