A nautical wedding

Last year, my sister-in-law married the love of her life in a ceremony set by the bay. It was so perfect, so fun, and so good to see the two of them get hitched!

I wanted to make their wedding card very personal and meaningful. I used the band that had held their wedding invitation pieces together, emblazoned with their names, as the focal point for the card.  I layered a pierced die-cut tag beneath it, and embellished it with a tiny bit of cotton twine tied in a knot:  not only does this have a nautical feel, but signifies their "tying the knot."

The patterned paper I chose is from the Netherlands, courtesy of my friend Stella. (thank you, Stella!) It has the perfect seaside feel, and already looks embellished. I just added a few sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

I so love to make a card super-personal for the recipients(s)!

What a gorgeous card and what a wonderful memory. This is what I like most about cardmaking, this 'one of a kind' element to it, that personalized, sublimely special feeling you just can not buy. I know, Colleen, that your sister-in-law adored it.

Colleen, this is so gorgeous! I love how you incorporated the personalized band from their wedding invitation...this will be a card they keep as a keepsake, I'll bet! Just gorgeous!

Absolutely gorgeous Colleen. Do you mind if I ask which font you used? This is really superb.

Hi Marie-Louise, thanks for asking about this! I do not know what font this is, though it's quite gorgeous. The belly band around the wedding invitation came just as you see it here, with the names and the anchor. I just cut it apart to use on this card.

That is a wonderful idea turned into a unique and beautiful card. I do something similar for graduates. I will take the school seal off of a graduation announcement and incorporate it into a graduation card. I like the wedding idea, too.
