Guesting again with Inlovearts!

Hello all!  We had a busy weekend moving my daughter from one dorm to another, and various other projects around the house.  The move went well, and it was a long day.  She's happy, and the building and her room are gorgeous, with incredible city views.  See the end of this post for a couple of pics. 😀

The kind folks at Inlovearts craft supply company asked me to be their guest again, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity!  I hope you like the creations I made to share.  At the end of this post is a link list for the supplies I used, as well as a discount code for you to use.  Check their site; they have neat and affordable things to add to your crafty stash. 😉

First up is probably my favorite of this bunch.  I LOVE these stickers.  The pack I chose has this sweet blue bird and pretty roses.  I picked a patterned paper from my stash and at first, I did not plan to put the bird directly over top of it, but I really like how it turned out!  The sheerness of the stickers is so lovely.  I had a little file folder die cut in my stash too, since forever, and found it to be the perfect backdrop for the rose stickers, and a sentiment I stamped on.  When the card was nearly complete, I felt it needed one more tiny element in the top left corner, so I used a bit of the Heart Clover Wave border die (you'll get to see more of it in a bit), and just snipped one blossom off and topped it with a pearl.

I also used tiny snippets of the Stackable Hearts Nesting dies as doilies peeking out from beneath the file folder.  I gently inked the edges, and added pearls (of course).

Up next is a dainty, feminine encouragement card using the Roses Pattern embossing folder.  Sigh!  I love the pattern on it.  Since I wanted to showcase this, I kept other details to a minimum and tried not to cover up too much of it.

Had to add a pearl to the top of the crochet flower.  You know me.  LOL

So this is the Heart Clover Wave die I was mentioning earlier!  Isn't it fancy and lively?  Each clover is made up of little hearts, so it could be used for Valentine cards as well.  Me being of Irish descent, I needed to make a St. Patrick's Day card.  😉  I paired with it another product I chose from the Inlovearts shop, which is the pale green crochet trim.  I do love crochet trim.

And in my world, where pearls reign supreme, I just had to top each clover with them.  But with this being a St. Patrick's Day card, where folks think of the 'pot o' gold', I decided to add little gold sequins too.

The Wave Border die set helps make the cutest scenes.  I used sparkly aqua glitter paper to create the prettiest waves for a bright day on the ocean.  The clouds are actually hearts made with Stackable Hearts Nesting dies, cut to resemble puffy white clouds.  Is it too much of a stretch?  I hope they read as clouds.

The fun thing about using this die set is you can use it on both sides.  For the card below, I die-cut the waves on the back of the glitter paper, and just turned the pieces over to reveal waves going in the opposite direction.

You can tell from the pic below that I used Glossy Accents to cover the boat; I just love using that stuff. 😁

What do you think??  I had such fun making these cards!

Sweet Baby

Hello there, I hope you are doing well today!  We're mid-way through the week, and the weekend is just starting to appear on the horizon!  Hooray for weekends. 😁

I've got two baby cards today, and both use sweet little animals from the Avery Elle 'Storybook' stamp set.  Love those cute little critters.

Short supply lists in the caption beneath each picture.

Avery Elle 'Storybook' deer - Papertrey Ink 'Tag Sale #5' die - pale green cotton twine, pale green resin medallion accent from Stampin' Up! - DCWV 'Nana's Nursery: Girl' patterned paper

Though it might not initially catch your eye, I used the My Favorite Things die called Grassy Fields on the card below.  It's actually the negative piece that resulted after I die cut some grass.  I hate to throw away things that can be repurposed, so I did add that here beneath the bunny's feet.

Avery Elle 'Storybook' bunny, birds stamps - Craft's Meow 'Sending You Sunshine' hello banner - My Favorite Things 'Sensational Stitched Flowers' die for tiny pink flower - Papertrey Ink 'Sweet Blush' pink felt, 'Tiny Tags' die and baby stamp  - My Favorite Things 'Grassy Fields' die

I am so glad you stopped by!  Enjoy your day and God bless you!

A Happy Bluebird

It feels good to finally get around to inking some stamps received long ago.  Owl Be Thinking Of You from The Craft's Meow was an incentive set for me, after I'd had a card published using their stamps.  This set has been in my stash for a few years now, and, well, here is its debut on my blog!

I made this for a dear friend's birthday several months ago.

The sentiment is from an {old} Close To My Heart set, Flower Pot.  A friend gave me that set, when she was paring down her stash.  It's really cute, and I'm glad I hung on to it - even after paring down my own stash a year ago.

Thanks so much for coming by today!  I love when you visit.

Bits and Pieces Make A Baby Card for Jinny

This is my second post for today.  Please click HERE for 'The Sympathy Blues.'

My friend Jinny had a baby boy recently, and I made a card to celebrate the sweet little one's arrival.  Turns out, there's a challenge created with her in mind at The Shabby Tea Room!  So glad to be able to play there.

I am introducing a series of posts which focus on using the Bits and Pieces we all have in our craft supplies. You know, those things that get cast aside for use at a later time.  Maybe it's an image you already stamped, or a die cut that didn't find its way onto a current project.  These little bits are one reason I love to play at Shopping Our Stash, which I'm entering this week.  (Their current challenge is to make your own embellishments:  my stacked-button/bow element qualifies, I do believe.)

On today's card, I've got a scalloped-rectangle frame (the negative of a die cut), the paper-pieced onesie, and those sweet little clouds.....all items were lying in a UFO box (Unfinished Objects, a term from my friend Bonnie).   They came together like they were meant to be!

Here's the STR inspiration pic.  I happened to use pennants in my card, and lots of blue and cream, too.

The sweet little pennant image is from Sending You Sunshine / The Craft's Meow, and the clouds and onesie are from Inspired By Stamping.  I added iridescent Stickles to the clouds, and a bit on the pennants, too.

Jinny loves buttons and twine, so I added some in the top corner for balance.  I stacked two Stampin' Up! retired buttons, and added vintage thread.  Oh, and the sentiment, seen above, is from Verve's Munchkin Phrases.

Sorry this post was a bit wordy.  I had so much to tell ya!  Thanks for coming by today.  :-D

The Butterfly That Didn't Make It

Have to admit, this is one of the oldest cards still remaining in my stash.  This butterfly from Touch of Nature, a retired Stampin' Up! set, has my heart.  It's okay to give love to stamps that aren't brand, shiny new anymore, right?   The ones that languish in the halls of eBay and on yard sale tables across the country?  I don't think I'll be parting with this stamp set, no sir.  It gives me joy.

I made two of these cards and sent one off to Take Ten magazine eons ago, in the hopes of being published.  I was following one of their sketches.  Unfortunately, it didn't make it into the issue.  Glad I have its twin here so I could share (they don't send back stuff they don't wind up using).

More old stamps used here:  Skipping Stones Designs music background, and Craft's Meow sentiment. Both of those companies are no longer around.   More antiquity?  The Wrought Iron corner punch by Stampin' Up!.

Well, thanks for taking a walk down Crafting Memory Lane with me today!

Play Date Cafe 135 - Happy Summer!

This is my second post for today.  Please scroll down one post
for the 'Inspired by Stamping' June Sneak Peeks!

Here we go with a new set of colors from The Play Date Cafe!  This time 'round, it's Aquamarine, Poolside and Clay.  And we have The Craft's Meow as our sponsor this week -- love their stamps!

Since I have some adorable TCM stamps, I used those for my project.  I just have to say, my card took waaaaay too many hours to conjure up.  Once I got the idea in my head, somehow the translation to paper just didn't quite make it the way it looked in my mind.  Ever have those times?

I added a face to the sun.  :o)

The beach ball looks so summery, sitting among those sandy mounds.

One lucky player this week will receive a special prize from The Craft's Meow.  For all the details, head over to The Play Date Cafe.

Hope to see you there!

Viva La Verve Sketch #2 - Runway Time

This is my second post of the day.  Please scroll down one
post for my Blockheads Peacock card.

I'm finally jumping in to play at Runway Inspired.  My friend Tammy plays there frequently. Here is the inspiration picture:
The model is wearing flowers, in shades of red, bright blue, black and hot pink.  I also see a clock in the background, so these are the things I focused on.

Also, I am using the Viva La Verve March Sketch #2:

I now realize I took a little bit of liberty with that skinny horizontal layer.  I forgot to check back, and thought it extended to the left more.  Whoops.

On the red panel, I stamped some flowers from the Paper Girl stamp set (Girls' Paperie).  The clock is also from that set.  This is my first time incorporating canvas on a card.  It's kind of neat!  I bought a set of 3 of these sewn circles from the craft store.

My mother is coming to visit us for a week, beginning this weekend.  She arrives on my birthday (what a great gift!).  We haven't seen each other for almost two years.  This week, I am housecleaning and tying up loose ends of all sorts to get ready for her visit.  Please forgive me if I don't make it around to your blogs to see your new creations until after my mom leaves.

I had trouble picking winners for this past week's Play Date Cafe challenge.  So many entries, so many beauties!  See you tomorrow with a new color challenge.  If you like bright colors, you're in for a treat.  ;-)
