Inspired by a Dress; An Award

I often receive a catalog from a children's clothing company called CWD Kids.   I save every issue, because they are jam-packed with gorgeous dresses and other clothing items that give me so much inspiration.

Here's my take:

I had received some stamps from Wplus9 in the mail the other day and they were wrapped in hot pink tissue paper.  I saved it, knowing I would need it for this card.  Tissue paper doesn't punch well, even when layered multiple times for thickness.  But that was okay here because I wanted a crumpled flower appearance anyway!  The shimmery pink brad is from Target's Dollar Spot last fall.

The green designer paper is from an old K & Company paper pad that I bought for 99 cents a while back.  I cut it out with a Spellbinders Labels Eight die, then embossed it with Sizzix Powdered Sugar.  The butterflies were created using the new-to-me SU Bigz Beautiful Butterflies die, then embossed with Sizzix Regal Flourishes folder.  Their antennae are made with Pink Sorbet Twine from The Twinery.

The sheer pink ribbon is an old gift bag handle that I took off the bag (it didn't have any life left in it anyway!).

Challenges entered:
I found out last night that the card below earned me a VIP Top 3 Award at Party Time Tuesdays!

In a couple of weeks, I have exciting news to share with you, but I can't spill the beans yet!

Thanks so much for joining me today.  I always appreciate you visiting my blog.  :)

Colleen

Fabulous use of the insp. piece, Colleen! Your pink tissue flower is fabulous as are the butterflies with the twine

Wish your dream was true so we could have actually met face to face :) I go be either but most people go with ihsah which is fine by me. My parents chose the name because it sounded so nice in so many languages, and I grew up in Costa Rica and love how it is said in Spanish with the "rrr" said properly. Then we go and move to Canada and go figure English is the worst language for it's pronunciation LOL!

This is so cute, love the green and the pink. Great flower. I read somewhere on a blog to layer printer scrap paper with the tissue and then punch. I tried it once and it worked out well for me, minimal tearing and scrunching. Anyway, I love it!

What a divinely inspired card, Colleen! That paper flower is just dreamy! I just found out that my hubby threw out my tissue paper so he's now in the garbage can retrieving it! All in the name of art!
And congrats on your Party Time Tuesday's win! Well deserved indeed!
~Can't wait to hear your exciting news, too!

What awesome inspiration for this sweet card, Colleen! You captured that pretty pink rose perfectly. I'm jealous of your pretty results with the tissue paper flower :P. I've tried those before and can never get them to work out--primarily because of the dreaded tearing issues! You may have struggled with those as well, but it doesn't show :). And yay for Target Dollar Spot finds!! As you know, I just *love* those. Congrats on your Party Time Tuesday award! That winning card is definitely deserving.

hi Colleen, I saw your post at cardabilities and came to see your card, but then needed to comment before I left. :) Your card is beautiful!! Love that you recycled the tissue & ribbon - I do the same thing. I also love how you embossed your die cut. Also, I agree with you...handmade cards are indeed little works of art!
