Bird of Thanks

Ever start a card, then place it aside because you don't know what you are going to do with it?  That's exactly what happened here.  I used a new-to-me embossing folder by Sizzix, Ornate Frame #2, on a pink card base and then thought, "Now what?"

After looking at it over and over, I decided to fill the empty void areas with some fancy stamping, all in one color:  kraft.

There's a mix of stamps here...Verve, Glitz Design, My Favorite Things.  I used flower stickers and bird and egg die cuts from K & Co., and photo corner stickers from Die Cuts With A View.

Once I got on a roll, it all came together rather easily.  Phew!

Stamps: Thankful Leaves - My Favorite Things; Fairy Tales - Verve; Vintage Blue - Glitz Designs Paper: Pink Pirhouette - SU Ink: Crumb Cake - SU Accessories & Tools: bird & egg die cuts, flower stickers - K & Co.; photo corner stickers - DCWV; Ornate Frame #2 embossing folder - Sizzix

I have this folder, too, and have never used it. I never put enough thought into what I would do with that space, but you have certainly come up with a gorgeous idea! I just love the pink with the Crumb Cake sponging and stamping on it. Gives it a sort of shabby chic look, which I love. The bird is a beautiful and perfect element for this frame. I'm going to try to do better about using more of my things. Seems like I get in a rut and use the same things over and over again. You, again, are an inspiration to me!

I don't have any frame-embossing-folders because I can never come up with an idea how to fill up the empty space in the frame. ( I am such a dork when it comes to invent something new.....) Your card is lovely and - as always- elegant! XX

It's so nice to hear that other people have the same problem sometimes. I know exactly what you're talking about. And sometimes, they just never turn out and you have to just wave goodbye and go on down the crafting road. But this one? It's beautiful!!! Happy New Year, Colleen, to you and yours!!! And here's to a healthy foot in 2014!!! (Hope you're all better!)
