My children had many thank you cards to send after Christmas. It's important to me that they learn the art of gratitude. My 12 year old told me she "didn't feel like" writing her thanks. So, I pulled out my Most Patient Mother Voice to point out that someone went to a lot of trouble to give the gift, and they deserve a note of appreciation.
It must be a dance most parents & children go through. You tell them to do something, they complain, you make them do it, and then..."See? That wasn't so bad, was it?"
The cards were fast and easy to make. One layer = cheaper postage, but they still need to be festive. The pine bough is Peaceful Wishes / Stampin' Up!; sentiment is Think Big Favorites #5 / Papertrey Ink; and ornaments from All That Glitters / Flourishes.
What was your favorite gift this Christmas? I loved all of my gifts, and it's hard to narrow it down. Crafty supplies were at the top, though!

Good Mom! After my son grew up he confessed that he was glad I raised him the way I did. He realized in retrospect it gave him a better life as an adult. Whew! That was music to my ears. Your card is lovely and simple. Just what you need at this time. We don't exchange many gifts anymore at Christmas unless something in particular strikes us. Generally we'll buy something together and call it our Christmas gift. We buy for our son, he buys for us. I exchange gifts with a few girlfriends. We're a small family and we mostly cherish the time we can spend together having a few days off work.

Good for you, Mom! For showing your children how important a "Thank you" note is. They are becoming a rarity anymore, unfortunately. Still, being polite never goes out of style. My favorite gift was a Zutter Bow-it-all. Only...it's got a bit of a learning curve (to put it nicely).

Your story made me smile; yes I had these conversations with my sons too. The art of gratitude and showing appreciation for the effort someone else has made for them..... It all turned out well now that they are grown up:) Being persistent when it comes to things like this is not always easy or fun but they will understand you some day:).I love the card; a beautiful ornament, a touch of pine and a lovely sentiment. And with a handwritten note on the inside it will brighten the day of the recipient!XX
What a beautiful one layer card, Colleen! That big sentiment is perfect for cards like this. Luckily, my kids didn't give me any trouble when asked to start their thank you notes this year. I guess there have been more than enough lectures from the parental unit in the past!
