Thank You, Deer

I feel lucky when I find some goodies that catch my eye at Target's Dollar Spot.  This designer paper is part of a package of eight 12" x 12" sheets of the cutest DP...for a buck.  Ha ha - a deer for a buck (get it?  I love puns).

For once, I let my designer paper do the work for me.  Usually, I enjoy stamping my own DP and getting all fancy and creative with punches.  This time, I wanted a quick card and I got it.

This card fits in the following challenges:
  • Play Date Cafe - Happy Anniversary to you!  Color challenge is pink/yellow/orange

The tag is made from Whisper White cardstock that has been sponged with Old Paper Distress Ink, to try to match the shade in the designer paper.  I used my Stampin' Up! markers to color the stamped image.

This card also uses some silky twine that I recently won in a contest over at Splitcoast.  It's the Monthly Commenting Contest, and there's still time to play for October!  See this page here for the easy details.

I will be sending this sweet thank you card to the kind folks at Rothman Animal Hospital in Collingswood, New Jersey.  They did what they could to help save my cat, Smoat, and they did it with such compassion.  After we had to put Smoat down, they sent us the nicest sympathy card.  I want them to know how much we appreciate all they have done for us.  They even called recently to offer a kitten that needs a home, but for a small variety of reasons, we are not ready yet.  In time, we want to adopt again.

By the way:  I know you must be wondering how Smoat got his name.  It's so unusual.  His real name was Oatmeal, but I am queen of nicknaming and I gave him the name "Oaten-Smoaten" when he was a baby.  The "Smoat" part stuck.  He never realized his name was actually Oatmeal.

Thanks for joining me today!

Happy Stamping,

Colleen

SCORE! love the dp you found for a buck, lol on your pun. This is so cute. I totally relate to the nickname Queen, I am one as well, so everyone has their little names. They just come to me and then it sticks, lol. My SIL recently commented that "you know you're a redneck when your dogs have two names...." And no, I am not a redneck, lol, maybe ignorant but not a redneck, lol. My three dogs have two names "Cocoa Puff" "Lucky Day" and "Kracken Up." I hope you will get a new Kitten soon, Smoat would want you to fill that gap in your heart soon.

Gotta love a vet that has a heart not only for your pets but for you :) Love the story about Smoat's name LOL! Too fun.

Scruffy survived the tooth cleaning and is still a bit groggy poor little guy. Thankfully no extractions :) Will be interesting to have to give him the meds for a few weeks....just hope he doesn't hate me by the end of all this!!

OK, so here's my big question--just when, exactly, was this DP at the Target Dollar Spot and *why* did I not ever see it?? This card is fantastic, Colleen!! And *you* marvel at *my* "ability to combine challenges"?? Right back at ya, baby!! You did a super job on ALL of these challenges. Oh, and thanks for the shout-out for the October contest!! I'm glad you got a chance to use some of the twine. That's a cool knot you tied :) Oh, and I really enjoyed reading about how Smoat got his name. I always did wonder about that--and know I know the *rest* of the story ;)
