Play Date Cafe 65

It's week #2 in my new position at The Play Date Cafe as Private Blend Designer, and I've been having so much fun!  I enjoy visiting our players' blogs to leave love for them, and in the process, I see some very amazing talent out there!  Wow.  And our new Design Team couldn't be nicer.  They are terrific ladies, each with a unique and wonderful personality.

The new challenge at the Cafe is this:

I really had to ponder an idea for this color combination, until I saw this page in my daughter's coloring book:

With inspiration from the gray trench coats and green umbrellas, I thought of my Blooming with Happiness set from Stampin' Up!.

Isn't the umbrella so sweet?  I matted it on Wild Wasabi and Pumpkin Pie cardstock, and dressed it with a Pumpkin Pie Corduroy Button.  The button is laced with a small bit of gray ribbon from...are you ready....Aeropostale pajama pants.  Those pants, which my 12 YO received for Christmas, had the tags attached with a cute little safety pin and that gray seam binding.  It was just skinny enough to make it through those button holes.

Check out the inspiring pieces by our Design Team, too:

Ruby McGuire

Design Team:Andrea Ewen
Fiona Shultz

I love this umbrella design, but even though I don't have that stamp I think I might try and mask out an umbrella instead! I have a baby shower coming up, so this would be perfect!

What a wonderful inspiration from your daughter's coloring book! I'm guessing that you may be like me and are constantly looking at things and thinking "how can I make that into a card?" It's a sickness...but one that I'm enjoying fully...
Your card is amazing...what a great shower card! The design, colors and details are perfect! ...And way to recycle! Great job, my friend!
--And lunch is definitely ON soon!

I SPY one of your Clearance Rack corduroy buttons! What a great idea to thread it with gray ribbon, salvaged from clothing packaging, no less. A girl after my own heart!! The new PDCC colors look a bit challenging to me this week, but it looks like you dealt with them effortlessly. What a cute card!! As always, I just LOVE seeing what inspired you. The coloring book was a real surprise this time--but it just goes to show you can find inspiration anywhere. I love it!! Terrific work, Colleen! :) TALK to you soon.

So you're now using pajamas for your cards?! LOL
That seam binding with the beautiful corduroy button is perfect. Love the pretty umbrella. Now, this does look like a challenge I'll have to think long and hard on. Your card is super, Colleen!

So cute, Colleen! The colors work perfectly with this stamp. Way to repurpose the flannel!

Isn't it funny how something that seems so unrelated to what we are working on can trigger a whole new card design! LOVE your card, it's so simple, but yet simply gorgeous!

Oh my goodness, you save little scraps and tags too?! I thought I was the only one with pieces of cotton cording and super cool tags from a variety of stores. It's so comforting to know I'm not alone. Fabulous card - love how you've brought the colors together.
