The idea for this card popped into my head as I woke yesterday morning. Wish I could wake up each day this way!
This is the second card I've entered at DYSU's Go Green challenge.
My stepmother's birthday is approaching, and I am putting together an assortment of cards for her to give to others. This is one of them:
I used an old Stampin' Up! background stamp, Floral. I still love it. The sentiment is from Anna Griffin, and I created a "belt buckle" of sorts with a JustRite frame. (I cannot remember the name of the set, I am sorry)
I took a pic of the card with my new Canon, too, and put it side by side with the point-and-shoot Nikon version.
I can see the Canon takes clearer shots, but it also picks up all the shadows. I didn't even see shadows with my eye when I took the shots. I have LOADS to learn about this camera (like, I need to buy an external flash, and a macro 50mm lens - cha ching). Oh, and by the way, the Canon was shot using an Auto Mode. Aperture is something I need to study up on, which I hear is better than an auto focus feature.
Just a little glimpse into my day: I am listening to the "Lion King" soundtrack as I write this. It is incredibly beautiful music, funny too, and I've had a few tears while listening to some of the songs. The words are so poignant. When my 13 YO was about 4 or 5 years old, my in-laws took DH, DD and me to New York City to see The Lion King musical on Broadway. Trust me, I am not usually interested in musicals and plays, but this production absolutely blew me away. It moved me.
Thanks for being part of my day. Big hugs to you all!

So refreshing Colleen! This shade of green in the floral portion is just beautiful. She's going to love having a gift of your cards ;)
Oooo, love this one especially, Colleen! Gettin' your green on again, I see. :-D
So fresh and springy with that pretty shade of green Colleen! Another stunner! BTW you will proud of me I've submitted 4 things to PC and plan to do 2 or 3 more tonight!
what a beautiful design...I so love how you did the sentiment and the lovely embossing...
This is very pretty! I love the greens you used! Some of the greens these days are just plain gross! This is crisp and clean! I like the buckle part too. Amazing the difference in the cameras. The pearls are such a sweet touch too. Great job as always!

A very elegant take on going green and your stepmother will be so happy when she sees this. Are you also going to show the other cards of that assortment? :)
Your photos are looking great; that shot you took with Canon is much more sharp and clear. Have fun trying out your new camera!

LOVE this, Col! I LOVE how you did the sentiment--you are amazing! LOVE:)
Beautiful card - such wonderful design!
LOVE your pictures too - I just wish it was only to point and shoot without having to worry about apperture etc... I have thought I've had the hang of what I need to do to get a nice picture, then the next day I realize it was only luck...
Have a great day + thanks for wonderful inspiration!
Hugs, Karin
I feel the spring in your cards. Janny
Gotta love the "waking ideas" - I have had a few of those~ This is gorgeous.
FYI -- no flash while photoing cards or you won't be at all happy! :)
Wow! I love how classy and elegant this is! I love the colours! :)
A beautiful card to wake up to...love the green and white and that awesome paper.
I know what you mean about your new camera. I need to read up on mine but I never have time...how ridiculous is that?!
Well, duh! I tried to delete my comment above when I realized that was a floral stamp, not paper. Don't think it would let me. Anyway, your card is fabulous and the stamp is yummy.
This card is so elegant and refreshing! I always think green and white is so fresh and relaxing.
hugs,
Ellen
I can see you are having some fun with your new camera! Lovely shade of green you chose...so soothing!
So beautiful Colleen! The stamp is gorgeous as well as how you laid it out! The buckle and that strip of trim just brilliant! Love the elegance of this!
Loving the green and how you did the sentiment panel!
Your card looks so pretty. I love the soft feel it has..
When I took my photo class at the community college the first thing our instructor had us do was put the camera on (P) mode.. It is almost the same as auto.. Only better..
Your flash won't come on..
Hugs, Linda
This is beautiful and serene Colleen, the paper is so elegant, and is a perfect match with the Swiss dot embossing. The buckle you created is perfect too, all in all, a perfectly elegant card!
Love the lion King too, although I have never seen the musical I would love to one day!
Oh I forgot to say Thanks for joining us at DYSU this week!!
BEAUTIFUL card, Colleen! I love the green and white together. That was a great idea to take pics with both cameras. The Canon does look crisper.
I LOVE shadows, I think they add drama. Guess it's just me, LOL. I saw the Lion King...it WAS awesome, wasn't it? Have a great day and enjoy the sun and warmer weather!!!
Love how you double punched the sentiment!
WOW, Colleen, this really is GORGEOUS! That floral background stamp is beautiful. The colour scheme is very CLASSY and the overall design is so very ELEGANT! Thanks so much for playing along with us at DYSU!
This is so beautiful, Colleen! Looks like you are really making headway with learning your camera. Sounds daunting to me, but I know you can do it--and look how much you've learned already!!
feels like spring in here! Beautiful, elegant card.
Love your card!
