For the Viva La Verve Sketch #3 for March, I broke out the Garden Party papers from DCWV. So pretty!
'Tis a shame you can't see the shimmer on the paper. Each flower has iridescent glitter on it (it comes that way).
I used a K & Co. die cut flower to top off my sentiment, which is from Verve. It's a Winnie the Pooh quote; how cute is that?? I still have my stuffed Winnie from Sears, bought in the early 1970s. He looks pretty good for as old as he is.
I forgot to tell you something about last week, when my mom was visiting. It seems good fortune was smiling upon us two different times. One day we went to Bobby's Burger Palace (owned by Chef Bobby Flay) for lunch and the men in front of us paid for our lunch! (The tab was like $44.00) The restaurant is a fast food place, and the construction workers who came in behind us asked if they could go ahead of us, while we looked over the menu on the wall. We didn't mind at all. When it was my turn to order and pay, the employee said, "It's taken care of." I had trouble processing what she meant. No stranger has ever paid for my meal before. I must've had a shocked look on my face, and she told me the men ahead of us felt bad for cutting, so they picked up the tab!
The second time this happened was on my mom's last full day with us. We went to see "The Hunger Games" movie - opening day - in the morning. At the booth where you pay, I recognized the young man working there as my neighbor's son. I haven't seen him in a couple of years, and he looked so grown up. As I made small talk with him, I saw him swipe his employee badge and then he handed me four tickets, gratis. That saved us more than $20!
I fully believe in "paying it forward", and am glad to teach this lesson to my children. Random Acts of Kindness are marvelous things, and make both you and the recipient feel good.
Thanks for joining me!

Oh, I LOVE that sentiment - being the old Winnie-the-Pooh fan that I am - I didn't discover it until I was in high school, and giggled my way all through it :) Beautiful card, Colleen!
How wonderful that those men paid for lunch! Wow! RAKS are a marvelous thing! And then the movie too! So sweet. Lovely card Colleen, the sentiment is perfect.
Great job on the card, Colleen. You are on the same schedule as me LOL! I am working on the three VLV sketches I have yet to do. One down two to go. Wish Spring Break being two weeks long I got way behind.
What a wonderful story about the construction guys and you added movie bonus. Nice to be encouraged that there are still those out there who pay it forward :)
Oh wow!! This one is a real beauty Colleen! LOVE the red and the touches of lace trim, just marvelous girl 😃
Love the papers - this is totally gorgeous! You make the prettiest cards Colleen!
Gorgeous! Love the delicate sponging around the inside sentiment shape and does my little eye spy some liquid pearls? Lovely!
OMG I almost missed this card, so glad I caught sight of it! It is just as pretty as the other one. Love the sentiment. That crochet or lacey daisy trim is really fun. Too bad we can't see the sparkle.
Love the stories with your mom. Boy, she was your good luck charm!

Colleen, this card is SO pretty!! Great colors, and you combined patterns so nicely on it--as well as totally nailing that sketch. I love it!! And how fun to read about your fantastic luck--x 2!!!--last week! I'll bet you and your mom were walking on Cloud 9 for quite a while :).
I really love this card...pretty papers and gorgeous flower.
Those are really kind people you mentioned. I just wish more of the population could be that way...and I don't mean with their money necessarily..just such kindness as they have shown.
Hope you spent that money you saved on crafting supplies.
Lovely card Colleen. Love hte gorgeous paper, the flower... the sponging looks great on the tag... and the lace is so pretty!
It's so nice to hear that kindness does exists these days.
I got all involved reading your wonderful stories and nearly forgot about the card. It's heartwarming to hear of these acts of kindness and I thank you for sharing them. Now, the card... great sketch and your design with it is fabulous! The papers are just wonderful, and I LOVE the sentiment!
