Independence Day is fast approaching here in the States, and we've got a patriotic inspiration photo for you at Inspired By Stamping Inspiration Challenge!
Here is my card --
Using a free digital image (link at end of post) as my inspiration, too, I thought about how blessed I am to live in the USA. That's why I chose to use this sentiment and frame from Cherish: life is, indeed, beautiful. I appreciate the freedoms we have here. I appreciate the hard work our military is doing to help keep those freedoms, too.
This pretty little cream rose is for sale at Inspired By Stamping, too! |
The red rose - an image from Elegant Flowers - reminds me of the rose called "Mr. Lincoln". I colored it with rich red Copic markers.

Perfect for this time of year with your very lovely colors. I like how you highlighted each detail. I love Lincoln so of course I love a flower named after him. Did you hear there is a new movie coming out (or already out) where the premise is that he was really a vampire hunter at night? I can't wait to see it. Great creation Colleen - hugz!
So beautiful!!! Your last few cards on your blog are just beautiful Colleen! They are so breathtaking! Wow! Hugs, Joanna
Gorgeous, Colleen! I echo your sentiments about how fortunate we are to live in this country.....and thanks for the link to this beautiful digital image!

This inspiration photo brings back memories of my son's high school and college days. He loved cobalt blue glass bottles and we had the best time hunting for them. His collection was not huge, but pretty fabulous!
What a stunning image, Colleen! And I adore what you've done with the crackle finish! Just beautiful!
Gorgeous card, Colleen, I love that rose. Your trigger photo shows the flowers getting a "coo drink". The challenge isn't hard, just takes some imagination! Hope to see your card at PCS!
Colleen, this is beautiful in vibrancy and design. ;)
When I saw the inspiration photo, I thought it looked like the pictures I've seen of your home. The card is beautiful and our freedom and the brave people who fight for it are quite the inspiration.
I am always writing the same; I am sorry. But again; this is breathtaking.I love the vintage look of your card. A lovely take on the challenge!

I agree with Stella - I always write the same things when I come her - but you just make the prettiest cards. This is wonderful again! Love it!

A stunning patriotic card Colleen - the picture is beautiful. At first glance, I actually thought the red Rose was 3-d, made from fabric or paper - that's how perfect your colouring is!
Thank you for your lovely comment - I'm so pleased to see your happy face on my blog!

Love the crackle paint on the vintage image!
Love it! That doily just really sets it off! Love how you colored the rose - and yes it does look like Mr. Lincoln - we had one of those rose bushes when we lived in Houston. Your coloring is just perfect for it! Love it!

Ooooh...so beautiful! Love the crackle paint effect! :)
So beautiful with so much to see. I love the way every element comes together - even the doilly looks just right. Love what you've done with the main image in particular.
Thanks for your suggestion on my blog about Stampington. I didn't know who they were but googled them and have subscribed to them to see if I dare follow through with your suggestion - suppose I just don't have the confidence yet to try to work along side all the talent out there - very scary!! Have a lovely weekend.

OMG I love this vintage card! I'm so glad Joanna added you to her DT! You are a perfect addition. I can see the Crackle Paint and love how you used it! I JUST got that floral stamp set last night and can't wait to start playing with it. I think I need to get more red markers. I only just started using Copics and still need to fill in my colors. Have a great day!
hugs,
Ellen
That is SO cool, Colleen! I love how you crackle-painted that image, and your coloring on that pretty rose is perfect. A neat vintage-y collage card. Sweet!
