Butterfly Garden Revisited

Blogger is being goofy.  I can't seem to get this post to look "right"!

I'm playing in The Shabby Team Room's challenge for the very first time, and challenge #16 is called "Popsicles and Pinwheels". We were to use this inspiration photo here, and use the colors of turquoise, bright green and hot pink.

My creative 'mojo' wasn't chugging along as I would have liked, so I re-created a card I had made earlier this year called "Butterfly Garden."
A few things I've changed:
* the color scheme, obviously
* added some grass behind the fence
* added a circle with sentiment nestled among the butterflies

I made two different versions of this card. One contains three large butterflies; one contains only two. My 12-year old daughter's opinion favors the card with only two large butterflies. "The other one is too busy, Mom," she said.

Happy Stamping,

Colleen

All supplies by Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted:
Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Melon Mambo, Pink Passion, Tempting Turquoise, Whisper White, green by DCWV
Punches: picket fence by Martha Stewart, 3/4" circle
Other: dimensionals, Big Shot, Beautiful Wings embosslit, Elegant Bouquet embossing folder, Bigz Die Circles, Scallops #2, markers

The sentiment spot was created with a 3/4" circle punch and one of the stamps from Teeny Tiny Wishes that officially says, "just for you." I inked up only the last two words with a black SU marker. It seemed too plain as-is, so I added dots around the circle with Pixie Pink and Temptimg Turquoise SU markers.

Hi Colleen ... I'm so glad you found us here in the Tea Room! What an absolutely adorable card you've created here. I {heart} that butterfly embosslit folder!!! Great take on our challenge this week. And BTW, I LOVE your blog header -- the hydrangia is my favorite flower - simply gorgeous!!!

Your card is absolutely wonderful! I don't think all the butterflies are "too busy" at all. I think they are fabulous. makes me think of the comment my daughter told me about my new perennial garden I planted recently....she told me there was no place for the eye to rest. lol!
I'm so glad you joined us in the Tea Room for the first time. Hope you come back and play again.

I agree with your daughter. The card with two big butterflies is "just right" and simply beautiful!

Those colors are so pretty, Colleen! I just love them together. And, of course, the punchez are all wonderful! Great use of the picket fence :). I like both versions equally. Super!

Hi Colleen - so happy you found us at TSTR! I love your card with all the pretty embossed butterflies - not too busy at all! :) The fence and the grass are such a great add on! Thanks so much for joining us and do hope you will be back for next weeks challenge! :)

I LOVE your card the way it is! So pretty, and it looks fine here. Just a suggestion for Blogger (which I despise). I use LiveWriter. It is free (just google it), you have much more flexibility in sizing and spacing your pictures, fonts, colors, etc. You can do everything Blogger does, but much more easily. You can set it to post at a later date, too, just like blogger.
When you set it up, you give LiveWRiter your blog address and when you publish, it automatically posts it to your blog. You can even go back in and correct it, either in LiveWriter OR blogger. One of the BEST things is that you can tell it to save all your links that you use frequently, and it will automatically link them when you type in the blog name or word or whatever you use to link. AWESOME feature. OKAY, that was a lot of stuff, feel free to email me if you want to try it out and have questions.
BTW, on my Peaceful Wishes card, I stamped the whole image in Mellow Moss, then went over the berries with Rich Razzleberry ink and a blender pen....the lazy way!
