Souvenirs from the beach

Yesterday, my girls and I went down to the Jersey Shore; Sea Isle City, to be exact.  It is only an hour and twenty minutes from our house.  It was a glorious day, and quite hot, but thank goodness there was a strong breeze to help cool us off.  And I think it's always a good day at the beach if I don't see any jellyfish!

I have done no stamping today.  My sunburned back hurts and I just felt too pooped to do any crafting.  However, I wanted to show you the little treasures we brought back from the beach.

These are the assorted shells my 8 YO and I picked up.  We felt lucky to find a little conch shell (in the middle compartment of this vintage relish dish).  You don't see those often.

And here are Mom's little treasures...genuine sea glass.  Some pieces haven't been tumbled enough by the ocean yet to rid them of their shiny exteriors, but their edges were smooth enough to rub your fingers around.  One of the pieces - in the very center - is a pretty light lavender.  I have never found one of those before.

I hope to stamp again soon.  I can't wait to play at the Playdate Cafe - their challenge colors this week are so elegant, inspired by Dublin, Ireland (and there's no green in the mix!).  Check it out!

Happy Stamping,
Colleen

Oh, WOW, Colleen!! Thanks so much for sharing photos of your beach treasures! You photographed these beautifully--like some kinda artsy blog or an MS magazine. (OK, that's Martha, not Microsoft). You were lucky indeed to find that lavender sea glass!! You have your very own mermaid's tears now :) Speaking of which, neither of us were winners on the EI challenge this week. Bummer. Next week, for sure!! Have a great weekend :)

This reminds me of how we used to look for shells on the beaches of Costa Rica when we were kids. Many great memories and gorgeous shells were collected.

Ooo Coleen such pretties. It reminds me I need to take a ride to the beach to gather some shells and sharks teeth. I love your shells. I keep a large jar in my bathroom from all the beaches I have visited. What fun!
