Celebrate!

After creating my last card, the punched-Christmas-tree, I knew I wanted to do something similar, but for a wedding or other very special occasion. The timing was perfect for the Splitcoaststampers' challenge, Clean And Simple (CAS) #74, titled, "Celebrations." The challenge is to be inspired by any of the cakes by Carrie's Cakes. Even though this card took a little while to make, I think it still looks CAS.

I do have something to celebrate: my blog has over 1,000 hits! I know there are other blogs with hits in the millions (oh my), but I'm tickled pink that my little ol' blog has 1,000+!
Thank you so much for visiting me. :)

Back to this inspiration challenge. Look at this pretty confection.
And below is my interpretation:

It's hard to see in the photo (boy, do I have lighting issues...pretty soon I've got to do something about that), but I used a lattice Texturz Plate from Stampin' Up! on the white layer behind the cake. In real life it looks very lovely. Just imagine it. :)

The cake stand is from Flourishes' Let Them Eat Cake, a great set if you ask me. Other than that, I think it looks pretty simple to dissect. If you have any questions about it though, don't hesitate to ask me!
Happy Stamping,
Colleen

Stamps: Let Them Eat Cake by Flourishes
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Pink Pirhouette, Mellow Moss, Whisper White, PTI white (for card base; it's much sturdier), Blush Blossom, Pretty in Pink
Punches: Doily Lace by Martha Stewart, Boho Blossoms by SU
Other: dimensionals, Big Shot, Texturz Plate, white brads from JoAnn's

Colleen, are you still talking to me??? (LOL!) Even if you aren't you are still at least "reading" from me, right? This wedding cake card is STUNNING!! I love how you layered the border punches to make your cake stack up tall and perching it on that Flourishes cake stand was genius. I just love it! And, yes, I agree that it still CAS. FABULOUS!! :)

Ok Coleen...you had me going this morning. I saw this wonderful cake in my blog roll and said to myself "Wow Coleen makes gorgeous Cakes!!!" Then I see it was an inspiration challenge...but that was OK because your card is DYNAMITE GIRL!!! Wow, so pretty. The punched bottoms are fabulous. What a spectacular job on this one!

This is a lovely card, Colleen! I've a wedding to go to at the end of the month and am going to attempt something similar (I don't have the same punches or plates as you, but I'll see what I can come up with).

Following your blog now too!
