Christmas in July

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was super-busy and exhausting. I worked Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday at the local grocery store where I cashier part-time. Boy, were we busy. At home, my husband and I are re-doing our dining room, and wallpaper had to be stripped.

I did not have a moment for stamping, so thank goodness I made this card last week.

My Christmas tree card was designed to fit three challenges:
- Stamp Simply Challenge #146 - Star Light, Star Bright - to use stars
- SCS Free For All #19 - to use a gold star
- Flourishes' FTTC74, Christmas in July
I did not have time to gold-emboss the star on the top of my tree as I would have liked, so I used a "golden" shade of yellow. Hope that's not cheating!
To create my tree, I embossed a piece of Mellow Moss cardstock with a Big Shot and the Petals-A-Plenty folder. Cut pieces that are 1/2" wide, length doesn't matter yet, and use a border punch on them all. Then cut the embossed, punched strips at the following dimensions:
1/2"
1"
1 7/16"
1 7/8"
2 3/8"
2 3/4"
The trunk was stamped in chocolate ink with a cake layer from the Flourishes set, "Let Them Eat Cake".
One down for the holiday card stash!
Happy Stamping,
Colleen

Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, star from Patterned Pines (both SU)
Paper: Riding Hood Red, Whisper White, Mellow Moss
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Summer Sun
Punches: border by Martha Stewart
Other: dimensionals, Petals-A-Plenty embossing folder, Big Shot, Stampamajig, Mellow Moss and Ruby Red SU markers

This is an awesome Christmas tree! I wonder if I could get one of those together. I know about getting that wallpaper off...did that and hated it. Never again will wallpaper touch my walls. Hope I don't eat those words. LOL
Love your unique design and the card is beautiful.

Christmas trees and poinsettias are my favorite to use on Christmas cards! I hope you do not mind if I use your idea for my cards this year. Thanks for sharing this idea!
